दख्खनवर सुलतानशाह्या आणि मुघलांची सत्ता होती. मराठे सरदार दुसऱ्यांच्या गाद्यांसाठी लढत होते.The Deccan was held by sultanates and the Mughals. Maratha chiefs fought for other men’s thrones.

शिवनेरीवर एक मुलगा जन्मला. जिजाऊंनी त्याला रामायण-महाभारताच्या कथांवर वाढवले.On Shivneri, a boy was born. Jijabai raised him on the stories of the epics.
सुमारे १६४६ · तोरणाAbout 1646 · Torna
सोळाव्या वर्षी, मावळ्या सवंगड्यांसह, त्याने आपला पहिला किल्ला घेतला.At about sixteen, with his Mavala companions, he took his first fort.
६ जून १६७४ · रायगड6 June 1674 · Raigad
अठ्ठावीस वर्षांनी, रायगडावर तो छत्रपती झाला.Twenty-eight years later, on Raigad, he was crowned Chhatrapati.
